The 37th Fajr International Film Festival has praised ‘A Russian Youth’ by Alexander Zolotukhin from Russia with Critics’ Circle Award.
Russian cinematographer Ayrat Yamilov received the award on behalf of Zolotukhin during a ceremony held at Charsu Cineplex in Tehran on Wednesday.
Fajr Fest has put the synopsis as “The film tells the story of a simple village boy who goes to the front of the First World War with a naive juvenile dream of acquiring fame and medals. In the first battle, he loses his sight. He is left to serve as a listener — he must listen carefully through huge metal funnels and raise an alarm when enemy airplanes are approaching”.
The runner-up of the festival was ‘Werewolf’ by Polish director Adrian Panek. Polish Cultural Attache in Tehran also received the second award on behalf of the director.
The Critics’ Circle Award is one of the prestigious awards given annually at the Fajr International Film Festival.
Over 160 films from 64 countries have been screened in various sections of the 37th Fajr International Film Festival.
The festival will end on April 25 in Vahdat Hall in Tehran with top-notch Iranian and international filmmakers and guests in attendance.
